Potosi Pines“The name Potosi translates from Castilian Spanish to mean "great wealth gold mine: source of great wealth". While Mount Potosi's history is abundant in folklore and Historical fanciful tales of wealth and adventure, today's purpose is just as rich and exciting. The Spencer W. Kimball Scout Reservation, located at Mount Potosi is "history in the making.” The 1,120-acre reservation is located 30 miles Southwest of Las Vegas. Nevada. This high desert facility is at an elevation of 5,800 feet with daytime temperatures at least 20 degrees cooler than in the Las Vegas Valley” (from the description of the Boy Scout’s Camp Potosi, which is a stone’s throw from Potosi Pines.) Potosi Pines is a camp owned and operated by the United Methodist Church. It is located past Blue Diamond, on the way to Pahrump. Sunday-Wednesday, August 21-24 The Cost: $150/person Includes meals, lodging, swimming, and supplies The deposit of $40 is due by May 31st. The balance is due the first day of camp. Instructions1. Fill out a registration form and pay your deposit by May 31st. 2. We will arrive at camp between 4:00 and 5:00 PM on Sunday 3. Maps to the camp are available in the church office. 4. Parents, you may join us for the closing worship at 10:00 AM on Saturday, or pick up your child at 11:00. 5. Those students who need a ride should contact the church office prior to the first day of camp. School starts the next Monday, August 29, so it may be advisable to shop for school clothes and supplies before camp. The Lakes Lutheran Church
