Personal strength is almost a contradiction in terms. Strength is discovered in our weakness, where we learn to trust not in ourselves but in God. We learn strength by following Christ, becoming a disciple--a life-long student learning the power of God's love.

Meditation can help us discover our weakness and God's strength. Practicing acts of kindness in the name of Jesus can improve our neighborhoods, bringing a community of strong love into being, just as God designed it to happen. Serving people in need and creating with God communities of new opportunity are what Lutheran Social Services, Habitat for Humanity, and Interfaith Hospitality are all about.

The radio ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, called "Grace Matters," is available online at http://www.gracematters.org/listen.html. This radio program was formerly known as "Lutheran Vespers," and it has a new name, new host, and a new style.
