Christ has created the Church, empowering us with his Spirit. Christ gathers us, centers us around the Word and Holy Communion, then sends us out to serve in Jesus' name. You are invited to be the church with us. All who are invited by Jesus to come and follow him are welcomed to his table. His table fellowship with sinners and outcasts teaches us to show extravagant hospitality. Holy Communion is celebrated every week at all services. Just as the early church gathered weekly to break bread (Acts 20:7), we too count on knowing Jesus, discovering his amazing presence in the breaking of the bread (Luke 24:13-35), and participating in his gift of life and salvation. Saturdays--6 PM --a serene, small gathering Sundays--8:00 AM--friendly, early-to-rise people, ready to spend time in Bible study 10:30 AM--young individuals and families, many kids, often Carole, Raina, and Derek play the flute, Tia the cello, and Paul the drums Our worship style is liturgical; our music is a blending of ancient and modern-contemporary. Liturgical or liturgy means the work of the people: all worshipers are encouraged to do the work of worship, the loving, responsive acts of adoring God using modern renditions of ancient worship songs. Little children hear the repetition of these worship songs and learn to sing with all their hearts, "glory to God in the highest," the song the angels sang to the shepherds announcing Jesus' birth (Luke 2:8-20). Childcare is provided between 7:45 and 11:45 Sunday morning. Bible study and coffee fellowship give the people from the 8:00 and 10:30 services a chance to know each other. Periodically, meditation services in the style of the Taizé community gather Christians from several Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, and other denominations. Readings in several languages witness to the diversity of Christ's Church. The next Taizé service will be 6 PM, Sunday, October 4, 2009. |
